El valor de los números.

Las metas son esenciales para tener células que se multiplican. Desde que iniciamos nuestro trabajo comenzamos a establecer metas claras para cada Pastor de zona. Pero, las metas no tienen sentido si no se sabe en qué lugar se encuentra uno en el presente.
Por tal motivo, pronto se hizo necesario llevar una serie de reportes que nos permitían conocer el estado real del trabajo. En los reportes cada líder escribe datos tales como la cantidad de cristianos presentes en su célula, la cantidad de invitados, el número de conversiones, etc.
Cada supervisor consolida la información que recibe de sus líderes en un reporte de sector. Luego, el pastor de zona hace su consolidado con la suma de los reportes de sus supervisores. Luego, el pastor de distrito consolida los datos con la suma de los reportes de sus zonas. Finalmente, tengo el consolidado de la iglesia por la suma de los reportes de los distritos.
Aunque parece que éste es un trabajo engorroso, en verdad, se realiza de una manera muy fluida y rápida. Cada semana tenemos las estadísticas del trabajo celular de la semana anterior y sabemos con exactitud los resultados. Sobre esa base podemos planear, proyectarnos y corregir lo deficiente.
Normalmente, las iglesias no son muy dadas a llevar cuentas exactas de sus miembros. Pero, en nuestro caso, ellas nos han permitido saber adónde estamos, de dónde venimos y hacia dónde vamos. ¿Qué piensa usted del tema?

The value of numbers.

Goals are essential in order to have cells multiplying. Since we started our work we began to establish clear goals for each zone pastor. But, targets are meaningless if you don’t know where you are standing at a present time.
For this reason, it soon became necessary to handle several reports that would allow us to know the real status of the work. In those reports each leader writes down information such as the attendance of Christians in his cell, the number of guests, the number of conversions, etc.
Each supervisor consolidates the information received from his leaders in a sectors’ report. Then, the zone pastor prepares his consolidated result with the sum of the reports of his supervisors. Then, the district pastor consolidates the information with the sum of the reports of his zones. Finally, you get the consolidated result for the church by the sum of reports of the districts.

Although it seems that this is a cumbersome work, to be honest, it is done fluently and fast. We have each week the cell work statistics’ of the previous week and we know exactly the results. On that basis we can plan, project ourselves and mend deficiencies.

Componentes de una reunión de planificación.

La reunión de planificación está diseñada para durar una hora. En el caso de Iglesia Elim, se realiza una vez por semana y más de dos días antes que la reunión de célula. Dado que el propósito de ésta reunión es el de fortalecer los principios de la reunión celular, sus contenidos se enfocan en tres áreas: la oración, la evaluación y la proyección.
La oración es importante porque siendo una reunión de trabajo es una ocasión cuando el líder pide cuentas a los miembros. Pero antes de pedir cuentas el líder debe dar. Debe dar bendición a través de ministrar y orar por cada uno de los miembros de su célula.
El segundo componente es la evaluación. En este tiempo, el líder revisa junto a los miembros los resultados de la reunión de célula anterior. Se evalúa la efectividad en la invitación y el desempeño de cada miembro en su asignación dentro de la célula.
Finalmente, en la proyección, se planifica la invitación para la siguiente reunión de célula. Se hacen recomendaciones. Se asignan responsabilidades y se finaliza con una nueva oración encomendando a Dios los planes hechos. Todo esto en el término de una hora.

Components of a planning meeting.

The planning meeting is designed to last one hour. In Elim Church’s case, it takes place once a week and more than two days before the cell meeting. Since this meeting’s purpose is to strengthen the cell’s meeting principles, its contents are focused on three areas: prayer, evaluation and projection.
Prayer is important because this is a working meeting in which the leader can bring to account his members´ performance. But before asking the members to give account, the leader must give. He must give blessing ministering and praying for each member of his cell.
The second component is the evaluation. At this time, the leader along with the members reviews the previous cell’s meeting results. The effectiveness of the invitation and the performance of each member in their allocation within the cell is evaluated.
Finally, in the projection, the next cell’s meeting invitation is planned. Recommendations are made. Responsibilities are assigned  and it ends with another prayer entrusting God with the plans made. All this is done within an hour.

DOS REUNIONES CELULARES POR SEMANA

Respondiendo a preguntas hechas a éste blog debo decir que el sistema de células de iglesia Elim tiene solamente dos reuniones por semana. Una es la reunión de planificación y la otra es la reunión de célula propiamente dicha.
Con respecto a la reunión de planificación fue que escribí la semana anterior. La reunión de célula es la que, como se sabe, tiene por propósito la multiplicación, la evangelización, la comunión y la enseñanza.
Algunas iglesias han hecho sus propias adecuaciones. Sé de una iglesia que dedica la reunión de una semana para que el núcleo de la célula planifique, la siguiente semana realizan la reunión de célula con los invitados. En este caso, ellos realizan las reuniones con los invitados cada dos semanas. Es otra forma de hacerlo.
El propósito de dar a conocer éste elemento del modelo de Elim es solamente para que se tenga el cuidado de tener presente el principio de la planificación. Cada iglesia debe desarrollar su propio modelo de acuerdo a sus circunstancias únicas. En El Salvador nos ha dado resultado el tener estas dos reuniones por semana. Es solamente nuestra experiencia.

Two cell meetings per week.

In response to the questions posted on this blog I must say that Elim church’s cell system has only two meetings per week. One is the planning meeting and the other one is the cell meeting itself.
Last week I wrote regarding the planning meeting. The cell meeting is, as it’s well known, the one that has the purpose of multiplication, evangelism, fellowship and teaching.
Some churches have made their own adjustments. I know of a church that dedicates its one week meeting for the cells’ nucleus to plan, on the next week they carry out the cell meeting with the guests. In this case, they conduct their cell meetings with guests every two weeks. This is another way to do it.
The purpose of presenting this element of Elim’s model is only to advise the importance of keeping in mind the  planning principle. Each church must develop its own model according to their unique circumstances. In El Salvador having these two meetings per week has given us good results. This is only our experience.

Reunión de planificación.

Poco tiempo después de iniciar nuestro trabajo con células se dejó sentir la necesidad de añadir una reunión más cada semana. A esta reunión se le dio el nombre de ‘reunión de planificación’. Su propósito original era el de reunir a los cristianos del grupo pequeño para planificar la siguiente reunión de célula.
El objeto principal era que en esta reunión cada miembro asumiera el compromiso de llevar a un invitado específico a la reunión de célula. Se solicitaba que cada cristiano mencionara a quién llevaría de invitado a la reunión de célula. Se anotaba su nombre y se elaboraba una lista de invitados, luego, se hacía una oración por la conversión de esas personas.
Posteriormente, la reunión de planificación también sirvió para evaluar la reunión de célula anterior, detectar las razones por las que hubo dificultades para llevar a los no creyentes, designar funciones para la siguiente reunión, elaborar la lista de invitados, planificar el transporte a la iglesia, revisar el cuidado de los nuevos conversos y delegar visitas.
Aunque la reunión de planificación no era parte del modelo coreano, resultó ser de gran provecho y ayuda. Hasta el presente todo líder desarrolla los dos tipos de reunión cada semana: la de planificación y la de célula.

Planning meeting.

Shortly after starting our  cell work  we felt there was a need to add one more meeting each week. 'Planning meeting' was the name given to this meeting. Its original purpose was to bring together Christians from the small group to plan the next cell meeting.
The main purpose was that each member in this meeting would assume a commitment to bring a specific guest to the cell meeting. Every Christian was requested to mention who they would bring as a guest to the cell meeting. The name was written down and a list of guests was prepared, then a prayer for the conversion of these people was made.
 Later on, the planning meeting also served to evaluate the previous cell meeting, detect the reasons why it was difficult to bring the non-believers, designate duties for the next meeting, prepare the guest list, plan transportation to the church, check on the care given to new converts and to delegate visits.
 Although the planning meeting was not part of the Korean model, it proved to be of great benefit and help. Until now every leader develops the two types of meetings each week: the planning meeting and the cell meeting.

Evangelización y atención.

Elim fue una de las primeras iglsias celulares en El Salvador, muy posiblemente, la primera. Eso le dio la ventaja de la novedad. Las personas asistían a las células movidas por la curiosidad que esas reuniones en casas les despertaban.
En los primeros años bastaba con invitar a una persona para asegurar con bastante éxito su presencia en la reunión de célula. Sin embargo, cuando el efecto de novedad fue pasando, cada vez fue más difícil lograr que las personas aceptaran la invitación.
Entonces, se hizo necesario hacer algo más que simplemente invitar a los amigos. Se vio la necesidad de comenzar a fomentar relaciones de amistad y de servicio para interesar a los no creyentes. Guiados por los libros del Pastor Cho donde menciona lo que él llama la ‘indiscreción santa’, comenzamos a penetrar en la vida de los vecinos para identificar sus principales dificultades. Ese conocimiento les daba pistas a los hermanos para presentarles el evangelio como la salida a sus problemas.
Desde entonces los propósitos de las reuniones en casas se definieron como: evangelización y atención. La atención a las necesidades de las personas no era visto como un puente para evangelizarles sino como un interés sincero en sí mismo. Pronto la iglesia comprendió el doble propósito de nuestras reuniones y eso fue decisivo para el crecimiento.
¿Cuál ha sido su experiencia al invitar?

Evangelism and Care.

Elim was one of the first cellular churches in El Salvador, very possibly the first one. This brought the novelty advantage. People attended the cells driven by the curiosity that those meetings in houses raised.
In the early years it was enough to invite a person to ensure with a lot of success their attendance at the cell meeting. However, as the novelty effect passed, it became more difficult each time to get people to accept the invitation.
So it was necessary to do more than simply invite friends. We saw the need of promoting relationships of friendship and service to get the non-believers attention. Guided by Pastor Cho’s books where he mentions what he calls the 'holy indiscretion', we began to penetrate in the lives of our neighbors to identify their major difficulties. That information gave the brethren clues to introduce the gospel to them as the way out of their problems.
Since then the meetings´ purposes in houses were defined as: evangelization and care. The care for people’s needs was not seen as a bridge to evangelize but as a sincere interest in itself. Soon the church understood the double purpose of our meetings, and that was decisive for the growth.
